So i got the island of kiribati, a tropical island in the middle of the pacific ocean. The island consisted of a large base of water and some small cities with funny names. The island had beautiful patterns and colours seen from the sattelite view.

The patterns were beautiful but somehow this seemed very obvious choice to take considering everybody would see this. I had to look a little deeper, make sure no things would go unnoticed. However I was quickly put back because there was almost no streetview available on the island.

There are a couple of towns on the island all with some pretty weird and funky names. They were named Paris, London, Poland and banana, wich was strange since these are all places in europe exept for banana of course. The island was part of the US, so I would have expected american places

I knew I had to look somewhere else, I had looked everywhere on the island but seen pretty much nothing that got my attention. The island did have one airport with limited destinations to visit. One of them was Fiji, a nearby island a little bigger than kiribati and certainly more populated.

unfortunately I ran into the same problem here. The island was undeniably beautiful but nothing that really caught my attention exept for the two guys driving around the whole island with their company stickers all over their scooters. I got back to the airport, and overlooked my options again. This airport had a connection with korea and flew to the main airport of Seoul, the capital of korea. Such a hectic big city must have had something to offer.

Finally some people!!

I couldn't help but notice their language. I really liked the look of all the signs i saw around. The letters looked so much cooler than ours, maybe there was something there to do with the letters.

I found the letters fascinating, how they were shaped looked way more like drawings than letters like i know them. They could already be a graphical work by themselves not even considering the fact that its letters.

Eventually i noticed something striking, i saw that a face was blurred from what appeared to be a cartoon drawing. Earlier i saw some advertisements that were not blurred, so it made me think. How and why does google maps blur a face and why does it not do it on some advertisements?

according to this article, google maps uses algorithms of google deepmind, a large scale Ai systems that predicts and keeps track of user data. Blurring the faces is only a small part of what it can do, it is a system with self learning capatabilities so that every time it makes a mistake, it learns from itself and does it better next time. It is however scary, that every single move you make that has any affiliation google is recorded and stored somewhere in a giant database. It almost seems like someone is watching you while that is not really the case. When would the moment come when the system takes over control and would we notice if it happined.

It seems however like all these systems are evil in a way
and will someday be used against us. Is this really
the case since there are many ways Ai is actually helping
us and was mainly developed for making the human race more effective and structured.

there have already been some projects over putting a computer generated human in this world, making the Ai system seen. That is also what i want to do. Make a meeting in a sense with a computer. How would this be like and can I make it respond to actions of yours?

there are already plenty of ways to talk to Ai. They use them in chatboxes, siri, bixby etc. Even a google home is a direct connection to Google Deepmind, although it is not allowed to record if not activated by saying "hey google".

this is miquela, she is an artificial model on instagram with 2,7(!) million followers. It is a combination between real pictures and an ai generated face.

She even has TikTok! She moves, sings talks like a normal human which makes it really eerie in a sense. Knowing that everything you see could be fake is just insane to me.

instagram isn't the only platform with ai models, balmain went ahead and got themselves a virtual army that consists of 3 models. Shudu is the one on the picture below.

there is also an Ai system called Sophia, she was the first real humanoid robot that you could talk to. she even got a passport in saudi arabia!

I really like the medium and format of miquela and shudu. The only thing is how am I going to apply this to my concept and path of thinking

i think miquela is maybe "too human" for my project. It should be forseeable that this identity is still a system. Maybe a human form would still be good, but it might be nice to play with textures and other imagery. It still shouldn't drift too far off i think though, it should still be very important to make it relatable. I think that this is where the power of miquela comes in which isn't very clear with shudu. Miquela feels far closer to home and therefore more relatable, it could be a friend of yours, which is crazy since she doesnt even exist.

for my experiment i will be using google home. It is google deepminds Ai system built in a smart home speaker. You can talk to it, order things, call people etc etc.
it is however saving all the data and sending it to google. it can only listen when being activated though, but that doesnt make it that much less creepy.

i also made a small animation as if google is watching you all the time. For no particular reason.

so i came up with a persona of myself, an Ai character but this time in a really literal form factor instead of it having a human form

i made a small set and started taking pictures of this "humified" Ai system to see what it will do.

I tried to make it do human things still, so that it would really be a character. These things include wearing clothes, sleeping, wearing a face mask and so on. The character is very sassy and has one thing on her mind, world domination and massive data collecting with bad means. maybe bad is still to much in one direction though since computers will never do things because of evil, they will try and solve a problem.
